Austen is a PhD candidate in the SSRC working under Professor Darrell Long. Before entering the doctoral program, he worked as an undergraduate researcher in the SSRC from Fall 2016 to Spring 2017. His research interests include security, systems, steganography, and kernel development.
His current research project is Artifice. A truly deniable steganographic file system that hides data within the free space of an existing file system.
